When I was in Sur La Table recently, I saw these mini donut pans by Wilton and immediately purchased one. After all, I love all things mini and since they’re mini, I don’t feel as guilty if I eat 3 or 4 or 5 donuts. What I loved about this recipe was how easy it was and the donuts are baked not fried so I didn’t have to deal with all the oil involved with frying. One caveat is that these are cake donuts which are denser so for all of you who are on team yeast donuts, I wanted to make that point clear. One thing that really helped me out was piping the donut batter into the pan. The first time around I got donuts with no holes. I frosted them with white and dark chocolate and topped with assorted sprinkles. The photos don’t really demonstrate just how small these donuts are but don’t they make you smile?
