Food halls have taken NYC by storm. It all started with Eataly, an Italian food hall located in the Flatiron District and now there are a dozen one-stop shop spots to satisfy your cravings. My favorite food halls in the city are Gotham West Market, Plaza Food Hall and Gansevoort Market. I recently went to Le District which is the French version of Eataly, located in Brookfield Place. I liked that it was smaller and less crowded than Eataly. When you first walk in to Le District, there’s an adorable biscuit bakery called La Cure Gourmande, which I frequent when I’m in Paris and now there’s one in New York. Also in the front there’s a creperie, patisserie and coffee bar so all your sweet tooth basics are covered. When you walk in further, there’s a cute florist to your right and a wine bar right in front. That’s where my girlfriend and I headed for some good French wine and small bites. What I love about eating at places like this is the ambiance is usually more casual and there’s endless people watching. Also, I can’t think of a better way to spend a gloomy Saturday than with a bottle of Bordeaux, charcuterie and cheese plate with my girlfriend. Head to Le District to add a little French inspiration to your day.
