I’m frequently asked, “What is your favorite thing to do in New York City?” My answer is…walking over the Brooklyn Bridge. I know it’s not very original and very predictable but I honestly can’t think of a more beautiful place than walking over the Brooklyn Bridge and seeing lower Manhattan and the East River on a sunny day. The walk is a little over a mile so it doesn’t take that long to get to Brooklyn. Once I’m over to the other side, I either get a pizza at Grimaldi’s or head to DUMBO for a pastry at Almondine Bakery. I can’t resist a sweet treat from Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory or a wicked hot chocolate from Jacques Torres. In the past 2 years, I’ve noticed that DUMBO and Brooklyn Heights has been getting more and more developed. There are more parks, restaurants, and things to do in the area. This time, I walked on the Brooklyn Heights promenade which has stunning views of lower Manhattan and the bridges. By the way, I never knew how pretty Brooklyn Heights is! For me, walking the Brooklyn Bridge never gets old. It’s classic New York and after all these years, it’s still my favorite thing.
