Pretty Packaging

In the past year, I’ve learned that the packaging is just as important as the goodies inside the box.  A lot of my friends and family have been requesting baked goods in lieu of gifts for their birthdays.  I thought it would be awkward handing over a ziploc bag of cookies or a shoe box of cupcakes.  So I started to invest in some baker’s boxes, ribbons, tags, and papers and began my work creating pretty packaging.  There are so many different ways you can decorate a box.  There is so much out there you can get overwhelmed by the choices.  I like to keep it simple and pretty.  My go-to packaging is a baker’s box in kraft paper, a tag, polka dot tissue paper and a ribbon.  This is obviously a look for a girl.  I like this look because it’s simple and it suggests something homemade and personalized.  I’m also a big fan of rustic touches like baker’s twine.  These are my favorite places to buy packaging supplies in nyc: Michael’s, Paper Source, Paper Presentation, and The Container Store.  There it is! A pretty packaged gift that’s also sweet.
