La Maison du Macaron

Macaroons make me so happy.  I literally walk into a cafe and squeal.  I love seeing all the colors and taste all the flavors.  I have written about the macaroons from Laduree (here and here).  I stumbled upon La Maison du Macaron when I was walking West on 23rd street in Chelsea.  It’s a cute unassuming cafe that’s sandwiched between a vintage clothing store and a hair salon.  I stood at the counter for literally 15 minutes trying to decide what to get.  Do I choose based on color or flavor?  I ended up choosing fig/port wine and mango/coconut.  I’m guilty of choosing things based on how they look like the fig/port wine macaroon.  It was purple with gold powder on top.  It was really good too, you could really taste the fig in it.  The mango/coconut was refreshing like a palate cleanser.  The cafe has a couple of couches and tables in the back where you can enjoy your treats.  It definitely brought me back to Paris.

{So many choices!}
