Big Gay Ice Cream

{Monday Sundae at Big Gay Ice Cream Shop}

There’s something about ice cream on a cone that brings smiles to people’s faces.  My boyfriend and I walked 6 miles through lower Manhattan beginning our journey at Union Square.  We walked East towards the East Village.  At East 7th Street between 1st Avenue and Avenue A, we saw a small crowd outside the Big Gay Ice Cream Shop.  I’ve always wanted to try their ice cream when they used to serve them solely out of their trucks but I never got into following them on twitter.  My boyfriend and I literally squeezed ourselves inside.  I ordered the salty pimp (vanilla soft-serve, dulce de leche, sea salt, and chocolate dip).  They actually inject dulce de leche into the ice cream before it’s dipped in chocolate.  My boyfriend ordered the monday sundae (twist ice cream, nutella lined cone, dulce de leche, sea salt and whip cream).  Both of them were sinfully delicious!  I love that the ice creams have quirky names and unconventional toppings and combinations.  After our ice creams and with our sugar highs, we were skipping down the street.
