All Good Things in Tribeca

AGT1My girlfriend Grace invited me out to her ‘hood, Tribeca for a girl’s night at All Good Things.  The best way I can describe All Good Things to you is that it’s a smaller version of Chelsea Market without all the tourists.  It was a picturesque Friday night in Tribeca.  The snow was just starting to stick to the ground and people were just getting off from work.  I was the first to arrive and immediately recognized Cavaniola’s gourmet cheese.  The first time I went was this past summer in Sag Harbor.  I’ve had some of the best cheeses from there.  I also saw Blue Marble ice cream which I’ve been dying to try but haven’t gotten out to Brooklyn.  I knew this was going to be a great night.

I made my way to the wine bar and ordered a glass of wine.  As each of the ladies started arriving, the staff knew everyone’s name (cue the Cheers theme song).  I loved the low key vibe and it felt like a cool neighborhood hangout.  Let’s not forget the food.  We started with a meat and cheese plate from Cavaniola’s and oysters from the seafood stand.  The standout dishes to me were the cod milt (google it) and the sea urchin and liver, which gave Betty goosebumps it was that good.  They were so delicious and memorable that I’m still thinking about them.  When you do google cold milt, don’t judge until you’ve tried it yourself!

In the midst of all the eating, I decided to take a dessert break and get ice cream from Blue Marble.  I ordered a scoop of burnt sugar, which tasted like crème brûlée, and a scoop of coconut.  I’m not even exaggerating when I say that it was the most delicious ice cream I’ve ever tasted.  It’s probably because they use all organic ingredients.  Blue Marble has the only certified organic ice cream plant in New York City; Sunset Park, Brooklyn to be more exact.  Even though it’s freezing outside, I’m still dreaming of that ice cream…

I love discovering new food destinations and this one should definitely be at the top of your list.  It’s exciting to have all these top notch food purveyors all in one place.  I want to say a special thank you to Chef Tate and the amazing staff at All Good Things.  You pretty much let me run around like a kid in a candy store and take pictures of everything.  I’ll be back!
