Lower East Side Food Tour

{In front of Economy Candy}

This past Sunday, my friends and I went on the Lower East Side Food Tour conducted by Sidewalks of New York.  Kevin, our tour guide, took us to 8 stops in the Lower East Side.  I was happily surprised by the quality of the places he took us to.  The Lower East Side is where the immigrants came to live after they arrived from Ellis Island.  There are layers and layers of history here, I had no idea!  The tour was 3 hours, it was very informative and most importantly, the food was excellent.  Some standouts: The knish.  It was the first time I had a knish and apparently Yonah’s has the best in New York.  It’s baked not fried; the pizza at Goodfella’s was pretty much up there with one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had; and the tres leches doughnut from Doughnut Plant.  I highly recommend this tour.  It was a great way to spend the afternoon with my long time friends eating delicious food.
