White Clam Pie at Pepe’s Pizza

I’ve heard about this Pepe’s pizza from many friends.  Last winter, I tried a slice from their new outpost in Yonkers, NY but I was told by the die hard followers that the one in New Haven, CT (original) is better.  Apparently, because the pizza oven in New Haven is around 86 years old, it makes the pizza taste better-well this I had to try!  On our way to New Hampshire for a wedding, we stopped by Pepe’s for their famous white clam pie.  It’s a simple pie made with little neck clams, olive oil, oregano and grated cheese.  It is one of the best pies I’ve ever had.  To be honest, I’m not sure if the oven myth was accurate but I’m going back to Yonkers to compare.
