Weekend In The Hamptons

When you hear about the Hamptons, you think of the glitz and the glam, the socialites and the celebrities, the mansions, and the fabulous parties.  For me, the Hamptons has always been about spending the weekend with great friends and eating incredible food.  I’ve been to the Hamptons before mostly to Sag Harbor to stay with my college roommate’s family.  This past weekend, my boyfriend and I stayed at a friend’s house on Mecox Bay in Water Mill which I’ve come to know as South of the highway (route 27).  I also found out that Water Mill is the perfect location because in 15 minutes or less, you can be in East Hampton, Sag Harbor, South Hampton, and Bridgehampton.  I totally get the appeal of the Hamptons because you have all the amenities from the city like Citarella, great restaurants, workout studios like Soul Cycle, Physique 57 and Exhale and everyone you know is there.  It’s like Manhattan transported to a beach setting.

We arrived late Thursday afternoon and started off the weekend at Wolffer Estate Vineyard, which was breathtaking.  I felt like I was in a vineyard in Napa.  It was such an idyllic setting, listening to live music while watching the sunset over the vines and sipping crisp rosé.  How could anything go wrong?  In the mornings, we went to Bridgehampton to workout and then visited farms to buy the ingredients for lunch and dinner.  After lunch (which always included wine), we would lay by the pool and take a siesta.  Rinse, dinner and repeat.  Our friends and hosts, Chris and Kelli were my foodie soul-mates because as we were eating breakfast, we would plan out our meals for the day.  When our plans for the beach got derailed because of the rain, it didn’t bother us because we spent the day hanging out, watching the olympics, drinking wine, and cooking together.  It was the most fun I had on a rainy day.  Our weekend might not have been as glamorous as a white party but there’s no better way to spend a weekend than with great friends making delicious food together.  This was my weekend in the Hamptons…
