I very much believe there is a recipe for the perfect girls weekend: 1) an easy-going and organized hostess 2) a good group of girls preferably all easy-going 3) good wine 4) really well stocked in wine 5) good food 6) and location, location location! I met my good gal pal Natasha exactly 6 years ago when I started writing this blog. I wrote about Physique 57 which at the time, she was their social media manager. She invited me to one of Physique 57’s events in Manhattan and we met in person. She asked me out to dinner and we soon realized we had a lot of similar interests. We bonded over our love of travel, food, arts and culture and the rest is history. We’ve been friends every since.
She invited 7 girls including myself to a weekend at her place in Copake Lake, NY which is a 2 and a half hour drive North from Manhattan. It’s referred to as Upstate NY and the Hudson Valley. To summarize, it was a perfectly planned but not militant weekend of making breakfasts and dinners together, drinking wine, getting to know each other, playing games, dancing, lots of laughing, discovering a new town, and just hanging out with cool chicks all weekend in an amazing house. I went into the weekend not knowing any of the other girls except Natasha and loving every one of them when I left.
Natasha was the perfect host because she planned things for us to do so that we weren’t just sitting around all day trying to figure out what to do. We also did a variety of things so that at least one activity appealed to everyone. It’s not easy pleasing a group of 7 ladies but she did it effortlessly.
I also fell in love with the town of Hudson, NY. It was only a 20 minute drive from the lake house. There are so many amazing restaurants nearby and antique shops if you like that kind of thing. If you would like to rent this Copake Lake house click here.
