Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and while it’s usually a day to celebrate with your significant other, I’m a single gal this year who plans to celebrate with her girlfriends. I have to say that even when I’m in a relationship, I’m not into Valentine’s Day because it just seems so cheesy. I always see these poor schmucks carrying roses that probably cost them 5x the amount they normally cost. That doesn’t seem romantic to me-at all. This year, I’ll be celebrating Valentine’s Day with my other single chicks so I decided that instead of staying-in, in our pajamas, and eating a tub of ice cream, we are going to pop open some bubbly and go out! I decided to make these flower ice cubes to gussy-up the ice bucket that will hold our bubbly. I know what you’re thinking, what a frivolous thing to make but they were so easy to make and I think they added a special touch. I mean, look how pretty it looks! In the Summer, I’m going to make these ice cubes with edible flowers so that I can put them in my drinks. For decorative purposes, I used small roses. I’m telling you, it’s the details that make a boring ice bucket that keeps your champagne cold to something pretty and special. I think my girlfriends will love it. Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!
You will need: 1) ice cube trays 2) small flowers and 3) water
Break up the flowers into smaller pieces.
Drop a couple of flower petals into the ice cube tray.
When you’re done placing the flowers in the ice cube trays, pour the water in very slowly. Don’t fill the water all the way to the top. I pushed the petals down with two fingers so that they don’t float. Not all of them will sink but that’s ok. It took about 5 hours for the ice cubes to freeze.
When the ice cubes are frozen, this is what they look like.
The flower ice cubes make this champagne in the ice bucket look a lot more special.
